The deployable boom developed for the SEAM project is unique in that is simultaneously
deploys two cantilevering booms with tips of approximately equal mass. The boom design
is inspired by the SIMPLE boom developed by Thomas Murphey and uses two counter-rotating
spools with coiled bi-stable tape springs. The tape springs are made of four layers of
very thin glass fiber fabrics. The harness is accommodated on separate spools that
deploys with the tape springs. The size of the complete stowed boom is 100x95x80 mm^3.
